In 2019, Savills published a paper around the delivery of new homes in England. The whitepaper gives an indication of the English residential market, noting that last year to June - there were
were 377,000 full planning consents granted across England, further bloating an already substantial pipeline.
Savills offers the argument that if these consents were fully implemented, almost two million homes could be delivered over the course of five years. But there is a sizeable gap of around 124,000 homes per annum between consents granted and homes delivered.
