Msheireb Properties and Schneider Electric are making steps towards enhancing the smart city capabilities in Msheireb Downtown Doha for a sustainable and efficient future.

Msheireb Properties, a leading sustainable property developer in Qatar, has partnered with Schneider Electric, a global leader in digital transformation and energy management. They signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to boost the smart city features of Msheireb Downtown Doha (MDD). This collaboration aims to transform MDD. It will turn the area into a more efficient, connected, and sustainable urban environment.

Schneider Electric will conduct a three-month Proof of Concept (POC) project. This project will showcase the capabilities of Schneider Electric's Smart City Integration platforms.

The focus areas include:

  • Traffic management: Improving the flow and safety of traffic.
  • Proactive and predictive maintenance: Ensuring corporate facilities are always in top condition.
  • Predictive analysis for MEP facilities: Using data to predict and solve issues in mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
  • Corrective decision-making: Addressing residents' needs before complaints occur.

The partnership uses Schneider Electric's expertise in digital automation and energy management. Eng. Ali Al Kuwari, CEO of Msheireb Properties, expressed excitement about this collaboration. He highlighted the importance of smart city technologies. These technologies help reduce energy usage and carbon emissions in urban environments.

Al Kuwari also noted that urban areas are major contributors to global energy use and emissions. So, he made it clear that the collaboration fits well with Msheireb Properties' vision. They aim to adopt sustainable, energy-saving solutions that use data analytics and AI. This approach ensures a smooth and interconnected experience for visitors and tenants.

Schneider Electric works to make cities more innovative and energy-efficient. Louie Jarouche, Country Manager for Qatar and Kuwait at Schneider Electric expresses the company's dedication to sustainability. Jarouche also made Schneider Electric's desire to collaborate with Msheireb Properties clear. This collaboration will help realise the potential of smart city technologies. These technologies will then help enhance well-being and create resilient, innovative urban environments.

This partnership is part of Msheireb Properties' ongoing commitment. A commitment that aids sustainable development in Qatar. Here, the company aims to improve and build upon its sustainable infrastructure.

Eng. Faisal AlMalki, COO of Msheireb Properties, and Manish Pant, Schneider Electric’s Executive Vice President for International Operations, were also present at the MoU signing ceremony. This highlights the importance both companies place on this strategic partnership.

Despite the new smart city proposals, MDD is already very forward-thinking. Covering 31,000 square metres, it’s the world’s first downtown regeneration project, according to Invest Qatar. It’s a $5.5 billion mixed-use district full of green building practices. These include the likes of solar panels, shaded streets, and LEED-certified buildings. So the new smart city collaboration will further add to the appeal of Msheireb Downtown Doha.

Msheireb Properties and Schneider Electric are set to transform Msheireb Downtown Doha into a model smart city. Using advanced technologies, the collaboration aims to create a sustainable, connected, and efficient area. As a result, residents and businesses in Msheireb Downtown Doha will benefit. They can look forward to a future where technology and sustainability work together.
