Red Sea Global has launched Akun, which will offer authentic and unique experiences for guests at RSG, in line with the sustainable ethos of the group.

Red Sea Global (RSG), the Saudi-based multi-project developer behind The Red Sea and Amaala regenerative tourist destinations, launched Akun, an adventure sports brand that provides visitors at RSG locations unique and original experiences. The mission of the company is to encourage visitors to discover their path, be present, and live with meaning in a world where every day is different.

A WIDE VARIETY OF BUCKET-LIST ADVENTURES

Akun provides a wide variety of "bucket-list" adventures through stunning coastlines and landscapes. The company offers world-class activities on land and in air. These activities include many biking options. But they also include climbing, scrambling and a broad range of action packed sports for both beginners and experts. Trail running and hiking on a variety of natural routes are other options.

CLOSE CONNECTIONS WITH LOCAL COMMUNITIES

RSG states that Akun is in close contact with the local community in each destination. The brand seeks to create conservation and cultural trails. But it also has ambitions to communicate the history of these historic regions. Akun oversees and operates adventure and sports events in RSG locations such as the Red Sea and Amaala.

SUSTAINABILITY AT ITS CORE

Akun operates with sustainability at its core. In line with RSG's regenerative ambitions it aims to protect and enhance the local environment. WAMA and Galaxea, RSG's water sports and diving brands, complement Akun and offer a full trio package of sporting experiences. WAMA provides action packed water sports adventures. Yet, Galaxea offers diving experiences to explore the rich marine life below the water.

INITIAL PARTNERSHIP DEALS

Akun has signed two initial partnership deals with operators Bungy New Zealand and Air Sports Group. Air Sports Group will carry out a 13-week on-site technical assessment to determine the air sports potential at both Amaala and The Red Sea. Then, Bungy New Zealand will focus on developing the overall adventure tourism plan and concept designs for individual guest experiences.

THE RED SEA'S THREE RESORTS TO OPEN IN 2023

Three resorts at The Red Sea will open in 2023. The first phase of the Red Sea International airport will open in 2023 too. This airport will welcome domestic flights to the area.

According to Rosanna Chopra, Executive Director-Destination Development at RSG, 13 more hotels will open next year. Upon full completion in 2030, The Red Sea destination will include a large real estate portfolio. This will include 50 resorts that offer up to 8,000 hotel rooms and more than 1,000 residential properties across 22 islands and six inland sites. The destination will also include luxury marinas, golf courses, entertainment, F&B, and leisure facilities.

FINAL WORDS

Akun focuses on discovery – discovering oneself, physical and mental strength, and discovering the kingdom. Through partnerships with leading international experts, RSG is confident that it can unlock the potential of its land, sea, and skies, welcoming guests in an adventure rich and immersive environment.
